How to adopt an animal
When you see an animal that interests you, ask for assistance. Please do not open the kennels or take any animals out.
When you find a pet you like, notify the office staff. You will fill out an adoption application.
A HOLD will be placed on the animal for you.
YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CALLING BACK THE NEXT DAY AFTER NOON TO CHECK THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION.
When you call back the next day, you will be asked to help with any questions that remain. At this time you will be informed if the application is approved or disapproved.
Approved applications
You must have an APPOINTMENT to pick up your new pet. At this time you sign the adoption contracts and pay the adoption fee – CASH, VISA, and MASTERCARD ONLY!
Your new pet comes with an ID tag, microchip ID, an adoption kit, and copies of the adoption contracts.
All animals must be transported in a safe and legal manner. Bring a leash or a pet carrier!
Pets going to homes outside of St. Joseph County must be altered BEFORE going home. See office staff for information.
